Our Name
Saint Stephen’s Chapel is named after Stephen; one of the patron saints of the Church. Saint Stephen was the Church’s first martyr because of his devotion to Jesus Christ. He was a courageous witness for Christ as he boldly stood against Christian persecution. He demonstrated his Selflessness through Servant-hood. He was a fearless Evangelist who shared the eternal message of the Gospel.
Our Vision
“We seek to glorify God by preaching His Word and spreading the Gospel of Grace in Boldness and Selflessness.”
Our Home
The Northwest side of San Antonio is among San Antonio’s fastest-growing and is home to a diverse culture of young families. No matter where you are in your journey of faith, we hope that you will consider joining us in discovering what the goodness of God’s grace is all about!
Our History
Saint Stephen’s was founded in 2018 as an independent congregation in the Reformed tradition. Since our founding, we have received support from and communion with the San Antonio Baptist Association (SABA) as well as the Texas Baptist General Convention (BGCT). We are in a unique position where we can join with our Baptist brethren in Gospel-centered worship while remaining steadfast in the Reformed tradition. Our Pastor, Manny Alaniz, was ordained by the Presbyterian Church of America. Manny is currently completing a Doctorate of Ministry, from Truett Seminary, at Baylor University.
What to Expect on Sunday
We exist to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Because of that, our worship is focused on God and His gospel – the good news for sinners. We are a warm church that meets in the worship building for Congregation Beth Simcha (a Messianic Jew Synagogue). We sing God-centered worship songs ranging from Rock of Ages to 10,000 Reasons. Our sermons are focused on the Word of God – verse by verse. Communion is taken every Sunday as Jesus commanded at the Last Supper. We are focused on worshiping our Maker and would love to have you join us.
